Dental Emergency?

Do you have a dental emergency?

What is a dental emergency?

Most dental problems can be treated during our regular dental office hours.  However, there are some situations where you might have symptoms that indicate a dental emergency that needs more immediate attention.

There are many causes leading to a dental emergency, such as: accidents, sports-related injuries, neglected tooth decay, or infection of teeth and/or gums.

You may have a dental emergency if you have the following symptoms:

traumatic injury to your mouth, teeth or jaw

severe dental pain that cannot be controlled with over-the-counter pain killers (such as acetaminophen/Tylenol, or Ibuprofen/Motrin/Advil).

bleeding that cannot be controlled.

severe swelling in the mouth, face or neck; with or without difficulty breathing.

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, give our office a call right away @ 403-262-3447.

If you have trouble breathing, or your mouth continuously fills with blood, please call 9-1-1, or go to the nearest hospital emergency right away!

The closest hospital to Ora Dental will be:

Foothills Medical Centre, 1403 29 Street NW, Calgary, Alberta,  403-944-1110

Although not all dental emergencies can be prevented, you can take steps to reduce problems which might lead to an emergency:  Practice good oral hygiene and see your dentist regularly; see your dentist as soon as you notice pain/problems before they become severe; wear protective equipment, including sports mouth guards, during sports.
